Sheikh Shoieb Aly
Sheikh Shoieb Aly Abdul Hameed is the Dean of Imām Jazarī Institute. The Sheikh holds several qualifications including a BA Degree in the Arabic Language & Islamic studies from the faculty of Dār Ul-‘Ulūm at Cairo University, a Certificate in Ijāzah of Tajwīd from Al-Azhar, a High Ijāzah in Qirā’āt from Al-Azhar, Ijāzah in specialisation of Qirā’āt (Ijāzah of Major in Qirā’āt) from Al-Azhar, Ijāzāt and Asānīd in the Ten Major Qirā’āt and the Ten Minor Qirā’āt from senior Qirā’āt scholars.
The Sheikh has played a huge role in spreading the science of Qirā’āt in the United Kingdom with many Qurrā’ (reciters) and proficient students of knowledge having graduated under him, attaining their Ijāzāt in different Riwāyāt (transmissions) and Qirā’āt, facilitating the means for them to become Imāms and Teachers at different Institutes and schools.
Sheikh Nadir Hilal
Sheikh Nadir Mohammed Larbi Ali Hilal memorised the entire Qur’ān at a young age at Ouhoud Mosque in Algeria (following the Warsh from Nāfi’ dialect and Hafs from ‘Āsim dialect ).
The Sheikh has studied the Ten Qirā’āt from the famous poem Shātibiyya and Durrah and has Ijāzah in the science. He has also worked as a Teacher of Qur’ān at Ouhoud Mosque (Algeria) and also lead Tarawīh prayer at Badre Mosque and El huda Mosque (Algeria).
The Sheikh has been working as a Qur’ān and Arabic Teacher for more than 20 years, teaching people of different ages and different background Tajwīd Rules, Arabic Language and various institutions.
Sheikh Ahmed
Sheikh Ahmed was born and raised in Egypt, and moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 11. He finished memorising the Qur’ān in his second year of university, and gained his Ijāzah the following year.
There, at Queen Mary London University, he studied Mechanical Engineering, gaining a master’s degree (MEng) in the subject. He has since been a teacher of Qur’ān, and furthered his Qur’ānic studies in the Qirā’āt. He has also recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in mathematics.
Sheikh Hamza
Sheikh Hamza Abu Safwan memorised the Holy Qur’ān at the age of 20, and holds Tajweed Ijāzāt in the Ten Qirā’āt from Sheikh Shoieb.
He has led Taraweeh prayer for around 13 years in Algeria and Spain, and has over 15 years experience teaching Qur’ān and its related rulings in different mosques.
The Sheikh also holds a Masters Degree in Islamic sciences aswell as a degree in Accounting, both obtained at University in Algeria.

Sheikh Tamer Said
Sheikh Tamer Said Al-Ramadan attained a bachelors degree in the Arabic Language with Literature and Islamic Studies from Dar Ul-Ulūm at Cairo University. He holds a Tajwīd Ijāzah from Al-Azhar in Cairo and has the high Ijāzah in Qirā’āt from Al-Azhar.
The Sheikh has recited the Qur’ān to many teachers and holds an Ijāzah in Qirā’ah ‘Āsim. Sheikh Tamer also holds an Ijāzah in the Ten Qirā’āt via the two routes: Shātibiyyah and Durrah.
Sheikh Jamal
Shiekh Jamal Abdinasir Hassan was born and raised in the UK, the country in which he also completed the memorisation of the Qur’ān by the age of 13.
Sheikh Jamal began studying under the tutelage of Sheikh AbdirRashid Ali Sufi in 2010 and continues to study with him today. He currently holds Ijāzah in the Ten minor Qirā’āt from the Sheikh. The Sheikh has also studied under Sheikh Shoieb, Dean of Imām Jazarī Institute, with whom he also continues to study.
Sheikh Jamal plays a pivotal role in Qur’ānic Da’wah in the West providing various courses and programmes in the UK. The Sheikh has also completed sciences in the Arabic Language and various studies in Ulūm al-Qur’ān.
Sheikh Sharif Ali
Sheikh Sharif Zain Ali is originally from Somalia, famous for its love for the Qur’ān, and it is here he obtained a BA in Shari’ah from Mogadishu University. Sheikh Sharif completed his memorisation of Qur’ān at the age of 15. He continued his Qur’ān studies in the UK, obtaining an Ijāzah in Hafs ‘an ‘Asim from Sheikh Shoieb, dean of Imām Jazarī Institute. The Sheikh continued his Qur’ān studies, graduating with Ijāzah in the Ten Minor Qirā’āt from Sheikh Shoieb in 2018.
Sheikh Sharif has been leading Tarawīh for more than 15 years in South London. He is also currently an Imām at Ibn Taymiyyah Masjid (Brixton) and head of Qur’ān at Madinah College.
Sheikh Maqsud
Sheikh Syed Maqsud-E-Elahi Sabir serves as an Imam at Lewisham Islamic Centre where he is also the head of ‘Qur’anic Studies.’ Sheikh Maqsud is notably known for his various appearances on TV including the National Qira’at Competition featured on Islam Channel, the programme ‘Recite’, on Islam Channel as well as various other competitions and programmes on other TV channels.
Having memorised the Qur’ān and different related texts, the Sheikh currently holds Ijāzah in the Qirā’ah of ‘Āsim from Sheikh Shoieb, dean of Imām Jazarī Institute, as well as Ijāzah in the Riwāyah of Warsh from Sheikh Ayad. He is currently continuing his studies in the UK in the Ten Minor Qirā’āt with Sheikh Shoieb.
Sheikh Maqsud has been leading Tarawih in many Masājid within the UK as well as abroad and has been pivotal in exposing the Bangladeshi community to different Qirā’ah and its related sciences.
Sheikh Galal Salem
Sheikh Galal Yahya Salem is a senior instructor at Imām Jazarī Institute. Originally from Egypt, the Sheikh has been an Imām and Khateeb for over 27 years. He possesses specialisation in the ten Qirā’āt from the University of Al Azhar, where he was also an instructor of Qirā’āt at before coming to Britain. The Sheikh holds Ijāzah in the seven modes of recitation from Shātibiyyah and then a further Ijāzah in the ten modes which include Durrah.
He has been teaching Qur’ān and Qirā’āt for a number of years with many students graduating under his tutelage, as well as leading Tarawīh in various Masājid since his time in the UK.

Ustadha Amal
Ustādha Amal Faik Abdulrahman Al-Hadithi was raised up in Iraq, Baghdad, where she initiated her Qur’ān studies. She later carried on further Qur’ān studies in Egypt, Cairo. Ustādha Amal has over 20 years of experience in teaching Qur’ān and loves to work with students at all levels. Ustādha Amal holds Ijāza in the narration of Hafs ‘an ‘Āsim.
Furthermore, Ustādha Amal holds a licence in Sharia from the Higher Institute for Islamic Studies and Heritage in Cairo and has also obtained a certificate in the seminar of future Scholars Organised by the international Union of Muslims Scholars. The Ustādha also holds a BA (Hons) Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Language from Baghdad University.o

Imam Ashraf
Imam Ashraf studied at the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia where he obtained a Diploma of Arabic Language and a Bachelors Degree from the Faculty of Da’wah and Usūl al Dīn.
He also obtained an MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Goldsmith’s University, London and also holds a level 2 and level 3 certificate in person centred approach counselling. Whilst in Medina he studied the Islamic Sciences privately under various teachers including Arabic, Hanbali Fiqh, Hanafi Fiqh, Hadith, Usul ul-Fiqh, Tazkiyah and other Sciences.
Imam Ashraf is Deputy Imam at Lewisham Islamic Centre and Resident Imam at Jazari.
